With Remote Fulfillment (also referred to as Cloud Fulfillment), you can use a terminal to route orders to a bar printers, suites pantry printers, and kitchen printers or a Kitchen Display System in order to be fulfilled remotely.
Enabling remote fulfillment in the Location settings is required to print orders in the Kitchen from Kiosk, Anywhere (Flex software), or Mobile Ordering integration partners. Follow the steps outlined below to set up remote fulfillment:
- STEP 1: Enable Remote Fulfillment in Location Settings
- STEP 2: Enable Cloud Fulfillment on the Device
- STEP 3: Configure Print Devices: Add a Network Printer/KDS and Configure Print Groups
All three steps above are required, but configuration of Cloud Fulfillment and Network Printers on the terminals will vary depending on how your venue runs its operations. Use the following sections to understand the differences in set up according to the devices being used at the location:
- Location Using Flexes (mobile devices)
- Locations Using Kiosk
- Location Using Stationary Devices (no Flexes)
STEP 1: Enable Remote Fulfillment in Location Settings
For any Location that will utilize Remote Fulfillment,
1. Navigate to POS Manager > Locations.
2. Click the Location.
3. Scroll down to Receipt and Fulfillment Settings.
4. Click the Checkbox next to Enable remote fulfillment.
5. Click Save.
STEP 2: Enable Cloud Fulfillment on the Device
You will need to configure one stationary device to act as the routing station. The routing station must remain logged in and online in order to receive the remote orders. The routing station should have a strong internet connection via ethernet and be located near where the orders are being fulfilled. Network settings must allow printers to communicate with order-taker devices.
Use one Duo device as a routing station per location. Using more than 1 routing station in a location will cause issues with your network printing.
On the stationary device that will act as the routing station,
1. Log into the appropriate Location.
2. Tap the blue pencil icon to navigate to Terminal Settings.
3. Toggle on Enable Remote Fulfillment.
STEP 3: Configure Print Devices
You will be required to add either a Network Printer or a Kitchen Display System (KDS) to receive the remote orders. You will also be required to set up Print Groups and add the correct print groups to the routing station.
Add a Network Printer
1. Tap the Register screen.
2. Tap the 3-dot menu (upper right).
3. Tap Devices.
4. Tap Printers.
5. Tap the green plus sign.
6. Do one of the folllowing:
- Tap View All Printers to add an existing Printer.
- Tap Add Network Printer to manually type the IP Address of the printer you are adding. Then go back and add the printer from the list of available printers.
Add a Kitchen Display System (KDS)
1. Navigate to the Kitchen Display Systems section of the Devices page.
2. Tap the green Plus Icon.
3. Tap Manual Entry to manually enter the IP address. Then click Pair.
Note: You must manually add your KDS as auto-detect is a deprecated feature.
REQUIRED: Configure Print Groups
1. Tap the Register screen.
2. Tap the 3-dot menu (upper right).
3. Tap Devices.
4. Tap the checkbox next to each appropriate print group. All menu items that are assigned to that print group will be routed through this routing station if the checkbox is checked.
- Register Routing Groups will print for any orders made with the Register screen
- Kiosk Routing Groups will print for any orders made in Kiosk
- Remote Routing Groups will print for any orders made remotely (for example, from Mobile Ordering)
5. Repeat for all stationary devices in this Location.
Location Using Flexes:
For a Location using Flexes, you will need to configure one stationary device to act as the routing station. The routing station must remain logged in and online in order to receive the remote orders. The routing station must have Enable Remote Fulfillment turned on and the Network Printer or KDS added to it (follow steps 2 and 3 outlined in the sections above).
If you have any additional stationary registers that need orders fulfilled remotely, you will need to add the network printer to each register/device that needs orders to route. Note that you will NOT need to have Enable Remote Fulfillment turned on for a Duo to print to a network printer or KDS, you only need one Duo with Enable Remote Fulfillment enabled per location when using non-Duo devices to take orders at the location.
Locations Using Kiosk:
For a Location using stationary registers that are utilizing Kiosk, you will need to you will need to configure one stationary device to act as the routing station. The routing station must remain logged in and online in order to receive the remote orders. The routing station must have Enable Remote Fulfillment turned on and the Network Printer or KDS added to it.
All stationary devices logged into the Kiosk location will automatically point orders to the Network Printer without adding the printer to each device. In other words, the Network Printer is only added to the routing station.
Location Using Stationary Devices (no Flexes):
For a Location using stationary registers, you do not need to Enable Cloud Fulfillment.
All stationary registers that are used to take orders will need the Network Printer added to it and print groups configured in order for the orders to route correctly.
