Best practices
If your business uses a Clover Station Duo and you need to stop using it for a period of time, fully charge it and then power it off.
Your device has 2 batteries. Both of them, together, enable tamper detection while the batteries are sufficiently charged. A fully charged primary battery protects your device from transitioning to tampered mode.
If the primary battery fully discharges, the backup battery will maintain tamper-detection for an additional time. After that, the device's ability to process transactions may be affected.
For long-term storage that does not trigger tamper detection, recharge your Station Duo (serial numbers starting with C053, C153, or S053) every 12 months.
Charge your device before storage
When possible, leave your Station Duo device on and connected to power. However, if you need to disconnect and store it, follow these steps.
-
If the device is not on right now:
-
Connect the device to a power source.
-
Allow it to turn on.
-
-
Check the battery gauge.
-
If the device is not fully charged at 100%, allow time for it to fully charge.
-
When the battery gauge reads 100%, turn off the device.
-
Locate the green power button on the body of the smaller unit, under the LCD panel:
-
Press and hold the power button until the Power Off prompt appears on the display.
-
Tap Power Off and confirm that you want to shut down the device.
-
-
Allow the device to completely turn off before removing the power cable.
Your device is ready for storage.
Store your device
When you store your device, follow these guidelines:
-
Keep the device out of direct sunlight.
-
Avoid high humidity.
-
Avoid extreme temperatures by keeping the storage environment within this range: 0°C (32°F) & 40°C (105°F).
If your Station Duo (serial numbers starting with C053, C153, or S053) needs more than 12 months of storage, recharge it before continuing storage.
